You Are A Marketer
“We are all marketers” – Baba Ajayi
I do not mean this in some philosophical or esoteric way, I mean this in a very real way.
If you think about it, since we all communicate every day, we are all marketers. Why? Because, all marketers do is communicate the effectiveness or awesomeness of ideas, stories, concepts, products, companies, brands, people and more.
That is everything that a marketer like myself does – the only difference between an elite marketer like myself and you (or an average marketer) is my ability to communicate all types of information predictably and effectively.
Because of years of studying the craft (and adjacent studies – persuasion, copywriting, speaking, etc.) and practicing with personal projects and real clients, I have acquired specific industry knowledge to stay up to date with the industry and trends and an expert skill at executing complex and straightforward digital marketing (and marketing) campaigns.
I am very good (one of the best in Toronto, Canada and I dare say, the world) at what I do – digital marketing, marketing, and communications.
And, elite marketers, entrepreneurs, executives, writers, lawyers, dentists, businesspeople, doctors and other high-performing professionals are usually great at all or at least one of these skills (digital marketing, marketing, and communications) – most importantly, high-performance professionals invest into making sure their brand and business is a leader in their industry in all of those areas.
But, back to you.
I want you to realize today that you are a marketer. And, I want you to start thinking like one.
Marketing is the way you communicate with the world. Not some weird or complicated concept – despite what sleazy marketers have sold you in the past.
Learn to love and start improving the way you communicate your ideas with the world. The world will treat you differently if you do this – surely.
You will find the people “understand” and “value” you and your ideas/opinions more. Starting the very first day you begin practicing marketing yourself – daily.

PART 2: We are all Marketers
I feel like I did not expound upon my thoughts on why I think we are all marketers in the first part of this write up. In order to do that, I have written this part 2 section. It might clarify some things and questions you have about some ideas I brought up earlier in this post.
In today ’s highly interconnected and extremely vast digital marketing world (and world in general), we all have the ability and opportunity to reach big audiences in the snap of a finger. Moreover, we have the ability to humanise the messages and make them look more credible and natural to our audiences. So, yes, we’re all marketers!
As was stated in the first part of this post.
At the end of the day, social media was not designed for businesses.
It all comes down to people (you and I) and human-to-human communication (again – you and I). Businesses, brands and brand propellers that rely heavily on their marketing department and generic (boring) brand communications to develop their presence on social media (and digital presence overall) are overlooking a critical component of brand building – PEOPLE (their employees, customers, suppliers, investors, etc.).
That is why, no matter what you do, where you work and where you are situated in the corporate world, you are a marketer.
In the corporate world, and in private, we all sell ourselves and communicate.
I would strongly encourage that you improve your marketing and communications knowledge – starting today.
Good luck my friend.
